What could be more frightening than a trick-or-treater stealing your pet? That's exactly what happened to a registered Pet Link pet owner.
We were so outraged that we're sharing the story, at the pet owner's request, in the hopes that you'll take precautions to protect this Halloween.
Amira's Harrowing Halloween Story ...
It was a typical Halloween night on Staten Island, New York. But for one family, it became a nightmare. Their house was undergoing renovation and when the contractor left the front door open - unbeknownst to the owners - the family's Teacup Terrier Amira, ran out. While still in the yard, Amira was abducted by an adult who was out trick-or-treating with children!
Thanks to a home surveillance camera, an anonymous tip and the local media, Amira was found riding on a bus nine days later with the person who had taken her. The abductor was arrested, and Amira was returned to her family unharmed.
What's equally as frightening is that Amira wasn't microchipped at the time. The story could have had an unhappy ending. But now, Amira has a microchip and is registered with PetLink. If she's ever lost again, she has an excellent chance of finding her way home.
WINTER & SPRING HEALTH WARNING! Antifreeze is a deadly poison, but it has a sweet taste that may attract animals and children. Wipe up spills and store antifreeze (and all household chemicals) out of reach. Better yet, use antifreeze-coolant made with propylene glycol; if swallowed in small amounts, it will not hurt pets, wildlife, or your family.
Welcome to Tucker's Way Rescue, rescuing Pugs and French & English Bulldogs from all over the United States since Jan. 2001. We originally rescued only Pugs but in the last few years have started rescuing French & English Bulldogs, French & English Bulldog mixes, Bostons, Frenchtons and the occasional Basset too. We strive to find loving and nurturing homes for these abandoned and homeless dogs. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in good standing with the state of South Carolina. Please view our available dogs listings to see the dogs we currently have for adoption. We are pleased to have found homes for dozens of dogs over the years!
Our mission at Tucker's Way Rescue, is to help abandoned, discarded, homeless, surrendered and often abused and mistreated dogs. We provide safe, and loving foster homes all over the US for our animals along with all needed medical attention. We then place them in permanent "forever" homes according to each animals needs. If, for any reason, a dog adopted from us is no longer wanted in their adoptive home, we accept them back into our program.
